Kids need a place to play!

Become Part of the Most Exciting Recreation Concept in Southeast Idaho History

Want to become part of the most exciting recreation complex ever constructed in Southeast Idaho? The Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association is working to build a new permenant facility to house not only our inline hockey program, but a host of recreational and activities, as well.

The Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association (CPHA) was located in a warehouse behind Walmart, which was demolished to build a new shopping complex.

To replace that facility, we are currently involved in the one million dollar Kids need a place to play! Capital Campaign to construct a dual rink hockey/soccer facility something like the building depicted below.

Phase I of this facility will not only house inline hockey programs, but be available for a variety of other sports, including volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, football, and winter baseball practices. The building could also be made available for craft shows, square dancing, and RV shows.

The Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association recently agreed to have the Pocatello Convention and Visitors Bureau bring a variety of sports tournaments to the planned Chubbuck facility. Such events include Judo competitions, speed skating, cheerleading competitions, and wrestling tournaments. The economic benefit of these events to our area could come to several million dollars.

Blueprint #1: Exterior               Blueprint #2: Interior

The City of Chubbuck has stepped up to lease us a parcel of land for $1 a-year in Capell Park, next to their city offices. The various activities in the building will serve more than 5,500 youths in Bannock, Power, and Bingham counties, and the Fort Hall Reservation. We expect almost 75,000 visits to the building in the first year alone. Our community desperately needs this multi-use recreation facility.  The PHA is asking for any help or funds that you can make available to assist with our project. Any support or assistance would be greatly appreciated and recognized publicly during our construction, grand opening, and future activities.

Naming rights for the entire building, or other areas within the building are also available. Imagine the kind of exposure that naming this building will provide your firm.

The Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association is a registered non-profit youth organization with the State of Idaho and a 501(c)(3) corporation with the IRS. This means that your contributions are tax deductible. Thank you in advance for your consideration. If you have any questions regarding this project, contact a member of the CPHA Board of Directors. Leadership Pocatello Makes Significant Contribution

Leadership Pocatello recently provided a $3,000 gift to the Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association's capital campaign and outdoor hockey programs. The generous gift was received late last year, said Dena Simmons, CPHA's Vice President, who spearheaded a number of conversations with and presentations to the Leadership Pocatello group.

Leadership Pocatello is an autonomous subcommittee of the Chamber of Commerce, created to promote community awareness and leadership among the area's citizens. Leadership Pocatello selects 30-35 individuals from the Chamber's membership who must then apply to get into the program.

The group meets once a month for training sessions to learn the different aspects of how this community works. Some of the sessions include arts and history, econoimc development, government, criminal justice, law enforcement, tourism, and the INL. The group also puts together a fundraiser each year called "Leadership Pocatello Presents. . ." which includes a silent auction. Proceeds from the fundraiser are donated to a cultural, beautification, or charitable cause.

According to Rhona Veith, Project Committee Chairperson for Leadership Pocatello, and an employee at Key Bank, "The proposed recreation center in Chubbuck will be a great place not only for hockey, but for the entire community. The ability to host all the different recreational and sporting events that this building can host is something badly needed in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area."

CPHA's Simmons said, "We had been talking with the folks at Leadership Pocatello for the past two years, or so, and we always thought they liked our concept. It's very gratifyihng to add another local group to the growing list of our project's supporters."

The Board of Directors of the CPHA thanks everyone from Leadership Pocatello for their generous contribution. CPHA will host a "Thank You" viewing of the facility and exhibition hockey game for the members of Leadership Pocatello at the Chubbuck Community Inline Hockey Rink in April, once the spring season has started.

Thank You Charlotte Martin Foundation

The Charlotte Martin Foundation seemed like a natural to Lynette Sampson, as she worked on the application started by fellow ISU student David Robinson. "Because its main goal is 'enriching the lives of youth in the areas of athletics, culture, and education,' it seemed like a good fit for CPHA's project, said Sampson. "It was very gratifying that they saw the Chubbuck project fit into their priorities in the same way David and I did," she added.

The Charlotte Martin Foundation was established in 1987 and operates in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. The Foundation emphasizes a wide range of indivdual and team sports that have a focus on lifelong participation. One of their goals is to make up for cuts to school intramural programs and facility shortages in rural areas and inner cities. Robinson completed an early draft of the grant in the Spring of 2006 and Sampson made final changes early that same summer. The $10,000 grant was funded this past fall.

The CPHA Board would like to thank the Charlotte Martin Foundation for their generous gift for the new building in Chubbuck. "This enormous contribution brings us that much closer to breaking ground and will, no doubt, serve as a catalyst for other foundations and private philanthropists contemplating contributions," said CPHA Marketing Director, John Young. "As a jump start to our fund raising, this contribution is one of the best things that could happen to us," he added.

CPHA Becomes United Way of Southeastern Idaho Partner

Thanks to a grant it recieved this Spring, the Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association has become a United Way of Southeastern Idaho (UWSEI) Partner Organization. According to Jim DiSanza, CPHA Secretary, "This was the first year we've been able to apply for a United Way grant and they don't often support new programs. So we're especially pleased that they saw fit to fund our program and make us a partner."

Amy Mercy, current UWSEI Board President said, "At UWSEI we're delighted that the Chubbuck Pocatello Hockey Association will be able to provide more recreational opportunities for both young and old alike in our community with this funding."

Now that CPHA is a Partner, it will display the United Way of Southeast Idaho logo on its home page and printed documents. The Association can also take advantage of various support programs offered by United Way, such as professional grant writing and management classes. "This is a great partnership with many benefits for us," said CPHA's Vice President, Dena Simmons.

Thanks to Pape Custom Concrete, Inc., the CPHA's Biggest Supporter

Pat and Ken Pape, of Pape Custom Concrete and Two Brothers Concrete are the CPHA's most important corporate supporters. Since before the Capital Campaign was started, the Papes have been working hard to secure a future for the CPHA. They helped us negotiate our land deal with the City of Chubbuck. They are working with the steel company to prepare engineering plans for the building. they are donating their time for the general contracting needed to build the new rink, and they supervised all the concrete work for the new outdoor rink. This in-kind donation is worth more than $80,000. These two gentleman want nothing more than to improve local recreation options, contribute to kids' development, and make our area more attractive for families and businesses. Their enthusiasm for this project is unmatched and with their help we know we'll meet all of our goals in the coming years. Thank you Pat and Ken for your support.

Pepsi Bottling Company Makes Major Donation

In 2006, the local Pepsi Bottling Company in Idaho Falls and Pocatello contributed $6,500 to the Kids need a place to play! Capital Campaign. This money is the largest corporate donation received by the CPHA, thus far, and significantly advances us toward our fundraising goals. According to Dave Robbins, at Pepsi, "Pepsi supports youth recreation and we look forward to seeing people of all ages enjoying this facility. It is something that is very badly needed in the community." Ralph Bennet, President of the CPHA said, "We're thrilled that a fine corporation like Pepsi shares our vision for this new facility and we're looking forward to becoming an exclusive distributor of Pepsi products."  "This is a wonderful contribution to our capital drive and it comes at a great time for us," said Jim DiSanza, CPHA secretary, "In the coming weeks we're pushing to achieve some major contributions from both local corporations and individuals. This gift gives us a huge credibility shot as we move forward to ground-breaking."
